Why It's Important to Forgive Yourself: Healing Journey



Healing truly hurts and it’s for this very reason that you must let the pain come in waves and handle each wave as it comes. When you wound yourself, the internal tissue of the wound goes through a process before you start to notice the outer layers of the wound healing. This is the same process for your emotional wounds.


You are in fact, healing and what you’re going through is all a part of the process. The first thing you must do is forgive yourself. Forgive yourself for the things you didn’t know, for the things you did know but still chose to go against your grain, for selling yourself short and dare I say it, just for giving yourself a hard ahz time.


We all have been there where we are truly beating ourselves up. The intrusive, internal conversations are screaming that you messed this up BIG TIME! This is a growth moment where you no longer feel comfortable doing the same thing(s) yet you feel resistance to move on to better. Be it a better job, better atmosphere, better relationship, better friendships, better mindset; this is the cross road in which you have to make a very pivotal choice.


What if I told you that at this crossroad there’s only one clear path for you which would lead you to the “better” that you seek. The only way to light up the path is via self forgiveness. There are times when we need to get alone whether it's in your car, your bathroom, or your closet and say your declarations of forgiveness.

Say it with me…

I forgive you

I forgive you for being complacent.

I forgive you for talking and thinking negatively.

I forgive you for allowing doubt and fear to cloud your vision.

I forgive you for staying in that relationship for too long.

I forgive you for depleting your energy to please everyone else.

I forgive you for neglecting your mind, body and soul.


Whatever it is that you need to forgive yourself for this is your moment this is the time to do so.



Sis, your self-love and self-forgiveness journey is a journey that you and you alone must embark on. There’s no right or wrong here. We all heal from our traumas at different rates. If someone attempts to tell you how you should be healing through your journey. Kindly wish them well and ask your soul and spirit what is it that you need? Your soul knows exactly what you need and will quietly assist you with whatever that need is.


Take a break, get still and quiet. Breathe deeply to regulate your heart rhythm. Envision nothing but love and light hugging you. Now ask yourself what do I need? Maybe it’s a bubble bath, a nap, a glass of wine, a quiet night at home alone; whatever it is, Sis give yourself some grace and just cater to what you need in this moment. This blog post is to simply remind you that you too deserve forgiveness so please love on you a little more.
